The Eudunda Family Heritage Gallery is gearing up for History Week SA
which will be held between the 18th and 27th May, 2007.

This is the first time Eudunda and Districts have participated in History Week SA and we are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our town.

Eudunda Family Heritage Gallery

17-19 Bruce Street, Eudunda

Open: Friday 18th & 25th 10 am – 4 pm
Saturday 19th & 26th 10 am – 4 pm
Sunday 20th & 27th 11 am – 4 pm

Our Gallery is dedicated to the local and surrounding areas of early pioneer settlement and the history of Eudunda. Depicting Family History trees and memorabilia, displays of early farming equipment, railway, hospital, schools and churches from around the district.
We also have restored the 1880s ‘Gosling Cottage’ and would love you to wander through. Please allow approx. 1½ hrs to fully appreciate our Gallery.

Classic Austin Garage

2 Barwell Street, Eudunda

Open: Tuesday 22nd to Saturday 26th 10 am – 3 pm

A 1880s Optometrist’s Room became a 1921 Cycle & Motor Garage. This building has survived stages of expansion, alterations and various Dealerships to become a man’s playpen.

St. Hilda’s Anglican Church

Ward Street, Eudunda

Open: Friday 18th 11 am – 2 pm
Saturday 19th 11 am – 2 pm
Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th 11 am – 2 pm

The first service was held on March 18th, 1888.    
St. Hilda’s is the oldest standing church in Eudunda and the church was dedicated in the name of St. Hilda on April 30th, 1889 at 11am.

Point Pass Immanuel Lutheran Church

approx. 10kms north of Eudunda.

Sunday 27th 8.30 am – 12 noon

 Church built in 1876.
Point Pass Immanuel Church, built of local stone with spectacular gold spire, still has weekly services. The original Lemke pipe organ is still there today and was placed in the church at a Dedication in 1876. The Bell Tower (added in 1913) houses a ½ tonne bell which was sent from Germany by Kaiser Wilhelm. Beautifully adorned interior pulpit and altar carved by carpenter Tamke.

Neales Flat Lutheran Settlement - Early 1870s

Neales Flat (approx. 12 min. drive from Eudunda)
From Eudunda commencing at the ‘Top Pub’ drive 2km along Thiele Highway turn right onto Truro Road travel approx. 6km turn left into Foote Road (unsealed) travel approx 3 km turn right into Neales Road and continue for a short distance.

Open: Friday 18th 2 pm – 4 pm
Sunday 20th 11 am Service
Sunday 27th 11 am Service followed by Morning Tea.

Walk around the churches, school and the pioneer cemetery and then view the interior of the three buildings which will give you an insight into the sensitiveness the early pioneers needed for freedom of worship.

Ziegeler Farm Ruins- Encounter farm life in the early 1870s.

Approx. 13 km from Eudunda travel along the Truro Road.

between 18th and 27th May (except Saturday afternoons).

Visit the ruins of the pug and pine cottage which included a separate boy’s room, the straw-thatched stone and mud sheds which housed animals and plant equipment, some of which were built by the Ziegeler family.
Mr. Ziegeler was also a blacksmith who walked daily to Eudunda.

St. Michael’s Lutheran Church-Peep Hill

About 10 kms from Eudunda.
Just off the Morgan Road turn left at Australia Plain/Peep Hill sign which says 3.5 kms to Peep Hill. Take the curved turn to the left and drive straight ahead disregarding first cross road continue to next cross road and the church is up on the rise. 

Open: Friday 18th 12.30 pm – 2.30 pm 

A delightful place of worship built of stone in 1890 which has a beautiful crafted pulpit and altar (the carpenter was Mr. Tanke) with a painted picture of the Ascension. A special border adorns the inside walls and a pedal and reed organ enhances our services still today.
Included are a display of photos and memorabilia and an inspection of the cemetery.
